Patience is in direct protest to our fast-paced, get-it-when-you-want-it culture. When culture calls our insanely short attention spans normal, our God calls us to a higher standard of steadfast patience. Also known as “long suffering”, we see the intensity, duration, and self-denial that patience at its truest form requires. Longsuffering enables a person to bear the deepest wrongs and trials, and holds the bearer fast while they wait for the improvement of the wrongdoer. As we humbly bear with one another in humble patience (Eph 4:2), we get to shine the light of Christ in a self-focused culture.
