Joy is not simply a deep level of happiness. This “joy” that Paul calls a fruit of the Spirit comes from the Greek word “Chara”, which is not simply a feeling we can create within ourselves or out of earthly things, but is instead a state of “soul satisfaction” than comes only through God’s grace.
